FIA List of Twitter Activists??
FIA has released a list of twitter activists who have been posting against the Armed forces.
A list of social media activists has been circulating on the internet. It is said that the list was released by the however the document does not contain any such information. The 700 page documents summarises the accounts as Identified Accounts, Forwarded to NADRA for facial identity, Fake/unidentified accounts Accounts†operated from other countries Accounts operated†from India, General accounts spreading anti-shuhada anti-army smear campaign, Distribution analysis on the basis of display pictures content of the accounts.
The list seems to be compiled after the helicopter crash incident on Lasbela, Balochistan. It should be mentioned here that a Pakistan Army Aviation chopper crashed in Lasbela a few days ago while carrying out a humanitarian mission in regions impacted by flooding. Higher ranks in the armed forces were really upset about the manner Twitter folks commented on the incident as some of them insinuated that this was an inside job. Others who appear in the FIA/ISI list suggested that the ISI should focus more on professional aspects of their duties rather involving themselves in political engineering. Such post were made from PTI accounts who had the impression that forces were involved in toppling the PTI government which happened in the same period.
The FIA list/ ISI list twitter handles contains many big names including news anchors, politicians and journalists among many activists from PTI. Interestingly, the list also contains people from PMLN which was not on the same page with PTI on the incident. If you look closely this list was compiled by using search function in the twitter.
During the past weeks we have witnessed many confessions or as they are called "software updates" in social media from people who have been involved in maligning the Army. ARY reported that 14 activists on twitter and other social media apps were arrested for posting against armed forces after the Lasbela incident.
Meanwhile; The six-person team to be assembled by the FIA was announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs in a notification. Lieutenant Colonel Saad from ISI and Deputy Director Waqar Nisar from the Intelligence Bureau will speak on behalf of the committee The inquiry will be carried out by the JIT of the FIA and intelligence services under the direction of Additional Director FIA Cybercrime Mohammad Jafar. After the Joint Inquiry Team's investigation, cases will be filed against the responsible parties and further legal action will be taken. The team will identify those responsible for the unfavourable trend related to the helicopter accident and the martyrs.
It remains unclear what kind of action other people who have been placed on the FIA list can expect from the authorities, some of which have deleted their profiles.
